The Atlanta emcee and his Run The Jewels partner El-P revisit the conversation in the new video for “Close Your Eyes (And Count To F**k).” “This video represents the futile and exhausting existence of a purgatory-like law enforcement system. When I call Jaime Meline and Mike Render—better known by their monikers El-P and Killer Mike, the brains behind hip-hop dream team Run the Jewels—I am a bit early, and they’re wrapping up another interview. Rojas Now news has come out that emcee Killer Mike was indeed injured during the assault, which didn't immediately come out because Mike had continued along with the show, alongside his pal El-P. Mike has apparently suffered a torn rotator cuff in the moment. Run The Jewels are Hip-Hop heroes and do-gooders to society. It makes sense, considering the video deals directly with the very real issue of police brutality. It's no secret that RTJ duo El-P and Killer Mike have been outspoken against police brutality. Mike—who has a long history of calling out power-abusing Killer Mike was left injured in an attack happening at Run The Jewels' SXSW gig recently. The rapper, who stopped a man from punching EL-P on the stage during the incident, revealed while playing another SXSW show that he's suffering a shoulder injury.
